Over the past two years, net write-offs among Canada’s Big 6 banks have increased, but they remain in solid financial shape.

Q3 2024 Highlights:

🏅 Top Performer: RBC Royal Bank

Excluding National Bank, RBC has the lowest net write-off rate at 0.22%. Additionally, its net interest margin (NIM) income is 1.59%, the highest among the Big 6, excluding TD. RBC's NIM is significantly higher than National Bank’s, which stands at 0.72%.

🚩 Last Place: Scotiabank

Scotiabank has the highest net write-off rate at 0.54%. Its NIM for interest-bearing assets is 1.48%, which is fairly average.

🔒 Most Risk-Averse: National Bank

With a net write-off of just 0.11% in the last quarter, and an average of 0.13% over the past two years, National Bank remains the most risk-averse among the Big 6.
