Windsor Family

Windsor Family Credit Union is a credit union located in Ontario. It was founded in 1940. It primarily serves Historically Windsor and Essex County and now spanning across Ontario from Thunder Bay to Kingston and Toronto.

Founded in Windsor in 1940, Windsor Family Credit Union, now operating as WFCU Credit Union, grew from local cooperative roots in Windsor Essex into one of Ontario’s largest credit unions. Its history includes the amalgamation of workplace and community based credit unions connected to southwestern Ontario.

WFCU has expanded across the province through mergers and partnerships, including with Rapport Credit Union, Education Credit Union, and Healthcare Credit Union, which continue as divisions within the WFCU family. This structure allows WFCU to serve a broader Ontario membership while maintaining community and sector based divisions.

Today, WFCU offers personal and business banking, lending, mortgages, investments, and financial advice. It also maintains a community presence in Windsor, including through the WFCU Centre, the city’s major sports and entertainment venue and home of the Windsor Spitfires.
