Cape Breton Credit Union is a credit union located in NS. It was founded in 2017 through the merger of Steel Centre Credit Union and Coady Credit Union. It primarily serves Sydney and Glace Bay.
Cape Breton Credit Union traces its roots to 1932, when Dosco Employees Credit Union was established in Sydney to serve workers connected to the local steel industry. It later operated as Steel Centre Credit Union. Another predecessor, Coady Credit Union, was founded in 1933 in Glace Bay to serve members in the local mining community.
In January 2017, Steel Centre Credit Union and Coady Credit Union amalgamated to form Cape Breton Credit Union. Today, the credit union serves members through locations in Sydney and Glace Bay.
Cape Breton Credit Union offers personal and business banking, borrowing, savings, investments, and related financial services. Member deposits are protected through the Nova Scotia Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation.
