Besides discussing real estate with your clients, what are your other favorite conversation topics?
There is something very special about being able to help people buy or sell homes. There is the 'professional me' that needs to attend to all the particularities of each transaction, but there is that other side, the side that impacts you and your relationships with them long after the transactions are done. We often share our love of food, we talk about travel, we talk about our children, we talk about long and short term life stuff, and sometimes we connect on a much higher level, where we share challenges that we are trying to overcome. Sometimes these are tied to a transaction, at other times not.
Trust is very important to me, and often these are conversations that help us, help each other in ways that we don't realize at the time. Sometimes clients share how important some of the conversations we had were, years after the fact.
Some clients tell me that they are able to have conversations with me about things they seldom if ever have the opportunity to talk about about.
We often have fun, we connect as people because my hope is that I am no just my clients Real Estate Agent, but that I am someone who was able to impact them positively on both a personal and professional level.
I think that our ability to have these kinds of conversations with people in any of our chosen professions, defines the kind, quality and longevity of relationships we develop over the course of our lives.
